The New Newton Hall Community Association building was opened on Friday 26th January 2007 by Frazer Reynolds, leader of Durham City Council. The new building cost £1million and complies to current regulations of the Disability Discrimination Act, unlike the old premises occupied by the Community Association on Carr House Drive.

The administration of the Community Association is run by a committee consisting of Chair - Mamie Simmons, Secretary - Amanda Hopgood, Treasurer Brian Kinghorn and 6 others.

The building consist of 2 meeting rooms and a main hall that can be divided in 3 separate sections that are available for hire. There are also separate changing facilities for Male, Female and Disabled visitors.

The meeting rooms will accommodate approximately 25 seated, and the main hall can accommodate 130 visitors, ideal for an annual general meeting, monthly meetings, product launches or entertainment.  Hiring of the premises forms the associations principle income.

Previously the Community Association operated from the Old Newton Hall Farm House on Carr House Drive built in 1752. Due to the age and structural condition of the building it was no longer possible to continue activities in the building. With the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act the building was not suitable and the cost of improvements required made the changes required impractical. Therefore the only suitable option was to move to new premises.
